ObeCure announces new findings
Gali Weinreb, Globes, Feb 2, 2006
The publicly traded Bio-Light company, which holds four life science companies, announced today that the drug which its flagship company OBEcure is developing for weight management has demonstrated a new indication – a reduction of fats in the blood.
The drug, which was previously marketed in the United States for the treatment of vertigo, but taken from the shelves because of ineffectiveness for that purpose, is being developed today by the company for the purpose of weight control.
Dr. Nir Barak, the chief scientist of the company, presented findings today at the Clinical Nutrition Week conference in Texas, which also included an indication that the drug specifically reduces the desire to consume fatty food. The company believes that their findings will allow it to register the drug in the future as a treatment for diseases that stem from excess fats in the blood, whether or not the patient is overweight. |
